What Nina's looking for:

I represent all genres in fiction, which means I’m open to a wide variety of projects. I’m especially drawn to memorable stories with a lot of heart. I adore love, so anything with romance is a bonus. I’m always looking for stories with LGBTQ+, disabled, and minority group representation. 

Here is a detailed guide to what I’m currently looking for on my list: 

 

Adult & New Adult – I’m focusing on adding more fantasy romance and dark fantasy romance to my list. I generally prefer medium spice to high spice akin to A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, but I’m always open to low spice will romantically charged tension as seen in Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber. I adore portal fantasies, as well as anything to do with fae and witches.

Within the fantasy romance space, I don’t enjoy overly snarky female leads, toxic masculinity, or stories that depict abuse in any form. I do love clever, headstrong female leads with a lot of agency and termination…even if they find that along the way. 

I’m always drawn to Gothic romances, dark fairy tale retellings, witches, magic, and court intrigue within fantasy romance. I adored season two of Bridgerton and would love a historical romance in the same vein. 

My love of Bridget Jones’s Diary is unfailing, which is why I would love a memorable Rom-Com. I would love something deeper yet humorous at the same time. I’m a big fan of characters discovering love again, pushing themselves out of their comfort zone or a journey of self-discovery with some unexpected suitors along the way. PS I Love You by Cecelia Ahern and the film Leap Year are two good examples. Miranda is my favourite show, so anything with a character who embraces their quirks and differences is always welcome. 

I’m always on the hunt for atmospheric dark academia and magical academia. I love magic schools, spells, and fantastical creatures.

I love anything that involves magical realms and Gods watching over the human world. Think The Sandman or Good Omens. I especially love the quirky humour of Terry Pratchett.  

 

Young Adult – The Summer I Turned Pretty and Heartstopper currently have my heart. I would love a project that captures the obstacle course that is indolence and first love. I especially love a holiday romance. If you’re familiar with August by Taylor Swift, then you know what I’m talking about. 

I would love anything with a Tim Burton aesthetic. Make it spooky. Make it macabre. Make it dark. As long as it has strong atmospheric writing. Wednesday was a recent favourite show of mine. 

I’m searching for an epic love story. I want to read about an all-consuming love that captures the reader’s heart. I don’t mind if there is heartbreak involved. If you can capture how Bella felt when Edward left, I’d like to read it. I’m always on the hunt for something with the same heart as The Twilight Saga.

I love anything humorous that deals with pitfalls of being in your late teens. Anything in the vein of The Sex Lives of College Girls would be great. 

I’m always hoping for modern retellings of Shakespeare, Victorian classics, Greek mythology, and fairy tales.

I would love a story in a non-Western setting, something dark, or a mirrored version of our world. A detailed magical/political system and a world that is run in accordance.

I’m open to dystopian settings, but nothing with pandemic themes.

I’d love a murder/crime/mystery in an unusual or unexpected setting, a thrust together group of friends, and an unexpected twist all wrapped up in a gripping and fast-paced package.

 

Middle Grade – Coraline by Neil Gaiman is one of my favourite books, which explains why I’m drawn to darker plots, adventures to whimsical worlds, and characters who discover their bravery along the way. On the other hand, I also enjoy stories with humour, quirky characters, and magical creatures. I loved Roald Dahl and Judy Blume books when I was a child and would like a story that parents can enjoy with their kids.
